Overall 2011 brought another good year of progress for the team. We remain at the top of the Gameknot league table in terms of overall number of points scored, and we have slightly stretched our lead over second-placed New York Lovers and Latvia.
We finally broke through the +5000 total team points barrier, then fell back before breaking through it again. We are today standing on a total of +5022 and hopefully we will now start to move further on.
We bade farewell to a number of players this year including the sad loss of veteran colleague capablanca7, Peter Lamoreaux from Florida, who died after a lengthy and brave battle against cancer. We also lost a number of other players including a small group who were reluctantly invited to leave after persistent time out issues. Our former leader achilles13 made a brief reappearance before vanishing again. He checked in again recently but it is quite clear he is still working through whatever personal challenges that are clearly dominating his life. Hopefully we will see him back fully mended and ready for the fray at some point in the future.
On the plus side we gained some new teammates and this fresh blood is already showing signs of making a positive contribution to the team cause. I hope to able to swell our ranks a little bit further during the coming months. However, this is likely to be a slow process as our recruitment criteria is one of the most exacting of any team on Gameknot.
So now to the individual standout performances of 2011. A full list of those registering a total gain of 10 points or more is shown below but I would first like to highlight some of the bigger gains scored by individual Fighting Warriors through the year.
There will be no surprise as to the two guys who topped the charts as both these players have featured strongly in the monthly reports throughout the year. rgold52 from the US gained an incredible 81 points for the team in 2011, and not far behind him is our current top gun Warrior spursboy from Leeds in the UK. Alan gained a staggering plus points tally of 69 during the year and his total contribution has now gone through 300 points.
Saying well done seems entirely inadequate in the circumstances but thanks guys for all you do and we wish rgold52 all the best with what sounds like an exciting new chapter that faces him this year.
The year was also an excellent one for danielcraciun from Romania who gained 31 points for the team. He came just ahead of bobbob78 - Jeremy from Phoenix, Arizona - who gained 28 points.
Also just breaking the +20-point barrier was ruskie – Igor from the US – and just behind him on +18 points were velunia8, Gilbert from Quebec, and hacker_1 from Michigan in the US. As pointed out in last month’s MVP report hacker_1 gained all 18 of these points in the final month of the year.
Well done to all these and I would like to pay tribute to all of you for the effort and endeavour you apply for the team each day of the year. It really is valued and appreciated, and we can all take pride in the collective achievements we continue to notch up as a team. The full list of those with +10 points or more in the year is here:
+81 points – rgold52
+69 points – spursboy
+31 points – danielcraciun
+28 points – bobbob78
+20 points – ruskie

+17 points – b_alex81; tumble_weed
+15 points – calojay
+12 points – takis_in_veins

Thanks as always - and onwards and upwards as ever

I hope you all had a great New Year and I wish you all everything you would wish for yourselves in 2012 – and what a solid end to the year it was.
There have been some stellar performances during 2011 and I will soon be issuing another report that places a spotlight on those who have made the most gains for the team throughout the year.
First of all, though, here are the standout performances for December.
There were a good number with positive scores so starting this month with those on +6 points for the team we had both hopewell from Cape Cod in the US, and sycv – Sydney from Cape Verde.
On +7 points we had velunia8 – Gilbert, our martial arts expert from Quebec, Canada – and flanders – Gary from Indiana in the US.
With +8 points in December we had b_alex81 – Al from Ontario in Canada. And both with +11 points for the team we had rgold52 from the US and milotoys – Mike from Long Island, New York.
December saw yet another good month from our trusty Tottenham supporting high flyer spursboy, Alan from Leeds in the UK, who finished the year with an excellent plus 13 points for the team.
However, there is no question as to who has earned the MVP award for December and that is hacker_1. Our teammate from Michigan in the US entered the month on exactly the same points tally that he entered 2011 with. However, during December he took a massive step forward by registering 18 plus points for the team - a fantastic performance and one that should set him up well for the coming year.
Thank you all for your contributions over the year and I will be back soon with the report on the year as a whole.
Onwards and upwards as ever

Wow – what a fantastic month November turned out to be.
I reported as recently as September that we had been slipping back in recent months in terms of our overall points score on Gameknot. This had been influenced heavily by a number of substantial timeout incidents as well as a clutch of some smaller but still damaging time out occurrences.
We have had something a turnover of team members since then and a number of players with time out history have left the team. Another individual left amicably within the past couple of weeks as a result of another repeat time out event.
To maintain our team strength you may have noticed that we have been quietly recruiting and we have a number of fresh faces in our midst helping us in our team cause. We will continue this policy.
These actions have combined to push us further on and the fruits have certainly been showing through in November. As part of that September report I mentioned that we had fallen someway back from our achieved overall team total of 5,000 points gained.
Well right at the end of November we hit the 5000-point mark once again thanks to some great performances during the month. As you will see there were a couple of spectacular performances but the pleasing thing was the high percentage of those who managed to deliver overall gains of 2, 3 or 4 points. All of this combined to claw back our position and as of this morning we were standing on overall team score total of 5,012 points. This maintains our position at the top of the table – a position we have held since 2008.
So time to name names. Firstly we had a small group each with plus five points for the team with these being:
rgold52 – from the US
kudzu – Bill from Newnan, Georgia, US
dmalu – Doorsuur from London, Nigeria
b_alex81 – Al from Ontario, Canada
We also had two who brought in plus six points for the team, including our current team Top Gun:
spursboy – Alan from Leeds in the UK
icefox – Thorir from Skjervøy, Norway
On plus seven points for the team we had one of our newer players:
einsteiniumz – from Canada
Then the two spectacular returns with the first of these registering a stunning plus 10 points for the team:
ruskie – Igor from the US
That would be enough in most months to earn the MVP award but this time. The November Most Valued Player award goes to an individual who completed 43 games for the team and in doing so gained a staggering 18 points for us in the process. The November MVP award goes therefore to:
sycv – Sidney from Sal, Cape Verde
Well done to Sidney and well done to everyone for such a tremendous team effort. Let’s all kick on from here as we move towards 2012.
Onwards and upwards as ever
